This my first time participating in Foliage Follow-Up; a garden blogger's meme hosted by Pam Penick of Digging. Strange, as foliage figures prominently in my garden and is very central to how I think about gardens and gardening. Flowers are fun, but "select for foliage and/or form first" is my mantra! So without further ado, a peek at a few garden vignettes and singular plants that are looking especially good in my garden.
A tapestry of foliage along a shady path in my backyard garden.
In my frontyard garden, an abundance of color, yet only a singular bloom in sight.
One small floral accent is included in this scene as well. Later when the primula wanes, a geranium (upper right corner) will contribute some delicate pink summertime blooms.
Heucherella 'Brass Lantern' and Rhododendron 'Ebony Pearl' are a moody duo.
Mukdenia rossii, Primula 'Peachy', and Heuchera 'Southern Comfort'.
Abelia 'Kaleidoscope', Cordyline 'Cha Cha' and Heuchera 'Delta Dawn' warm this spring day.
Match-making; Athyrium niponicum var. pictum and Heuchera 'Berry Smoothie'
The emerging foliage of my Japanese maples is especially lovely this time of year. These three are Acer palmatum 'Amber Ghost', Acer shirasawanum 'Autumn Moon', and Acer palmatum 'Shishio Improved'.
